My Love for OFW's

Yes, they have a special place in my heart.
My father used to be an OCW or overseas contract worker,he's a bartender who have worked for different hotels in Manila in the late 70's to early 80's.

I fully remember, there were times ,specially during christmas holidays,he will bring me to his work straight from Bataan to meet my ninongs and ninangs para mamasko! Now,its all part of memories as my father died so many years ago.

Around those years, construction and development in the Middle East, and UAE,was really big.

It was when foreign employers, recruitment agencies considered hiring Filipinos. We are known all over the world to be skillful, converse well in English, trainable, and most of all hardworking.

For many Filipinos, working abroad was a way to get out of poverty and better life.True enough, many have benefited from it. Being away entailed a lot of sacrifices.Back then, theres no means to regularly communicate with their loved ones, only snail mail and expensive overseas call. Now,its totally different, thanks to technology, connectivity is not a problem anymore.

The past years,i had the chance to speak to thousands of Filipinos already and OFW's comprise a substantial chunk of it.They have almost the same reasons, similar to my tatay Felipe and brother Marvin of going abroad.
They have their hard-earned money and that they need to be guided properly..Educating them financially is the key.

Luckily, there are now Filipino organization advocates.Helping fellow pinoys, guiding, teaching them about investment, stocks, entrepreneurship and even family counselling.Their vulnerability to "vultures" were avoided.

Im happy and thankful that i have always been called to speak to our kababayans particularly in entrepreneurship and franchising not only in the country but, also to countries where OFW's are.I always believe that Filipinos have the potential to excel in his chosen field.Provide him the building blocks - knowledge, training, right mindset and attitude,im sure he will fly.

OFW's are my modern day hero, they will remain special to me.

Sharing with you a session attended by Ofw's from UK,KSA,Singapore,HongKong and UAE.
